Monterey Bay Getaway....Day 3

Our final day we went to Big Sur, California. Beautiful coast lines for miles and miles....

We stopped at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park to see a beautiful 80 foot waterfall that drops directly into the ocean. It was pretty windy and sprinkled here and there but the views were well worth it.

We met up with Deb and Ron (Jays Mom and Step Dad) who were also on a getaway weekend. We kept running into them after this at every location we stopped at...it was pretty funny.

Happy 12th Anniversary to us!

We had a great time but it felt good to arrive home. When Tyson saw me he screamed MOMMY!!!! And started scrunching his face like he just wanted to pinch me as he ran towards me. It was really cute :)

Monterey Bay Getaway.....Day 2

Today was much better weather. We started out our day with a 3 hour whale watching tour on a boat in Monterey. It was really neat, only about a dozen people went on the 9am tour so there was plenty of room. We saw at least 20 whales. We didn't get super close to them but it was still awesome. We also saw lots of sea lions diving amongst the waves and even right in front of the whales like they were playing with them. We also saw tons of jelly fish just under the surface glowing under the water as we toured out to see the whales. After our boat ride we shared some calamari and a chowder bread bowl, did some shop browsing, took a hike, and then flew a kite on the beach. We had a lot of fun but now we're beat and just want to veg in our hotel room.

Here we are...going out on the boat

We probably saw about 20 whales. We didn't get right up next to them but it was still amazing

Some seals on a rock that stank like you can't imagine

Look how good he is!

We miss you guys!

Monterey Bay Getaway.....Day 1

Today was misty, slightly rainy, and just plain cold when you left your jacket in the car because you didn't want to carry it around the aquarium. Not a good idea....Here's some pics of Day 1 in Monterey at the aquarium:

Some Jellies.....

Me and a little sea otter

Jay flashing gang signs with the sea otter....

Some cute little tree frogs

Well, that's all for now! Although we are enjoying some time away, I can't help but notice that one of our most popular sentences is: "The kids would LOVE this!" (But we still don't want them here.)

This one's for Jay's Mom :)

This is a real FAQ they had to post on Compaq:

Remember that time you told Jay when receiving technical support over the phone, "You said the file is on my desktop, I'm looking all over my desk and it's not here!"

Merry Christmas....

and Happy New Year! This is about as close as you'll come to a Christmas card from the Huhtala Family this year. However, Katrina has suddenly become obsessed w/having a family Christmas card, so next year, maybe I'll let that be her project.
