8 Hour Road Trip + 6 Kids = ??????

The 10 Best Moments of Kimmie and I's trip to Orange County:

10. The screaming baby (not mine of course)
9. Katie Cardons TV screen breaking 3 hours in
8. Katrina H. saying "Ooooo! Watch out for the bump! ooooooo!" (Had to be there)
7. When we literally stopped traffic
6. The Dudefier laying his spare tortillas on his leg to eat later.
5. That blasted Teeter-Totter
4. Realizing Kimberly Cardon had NO original material after meeting her Mom
3. Payton calling Kimmies Mom "Grandma" and her Aunt Dori "Aunt Dori" the entire trip
2. When Payton told "Grandma": "My mom's reading a book called 'How to read the scriptures with your eyes shut.' " (It was actually called "How to Pray Without Falling Asleep)
1. THE SKIRT

So we left Friday afternoon for an impromptu trip to Southern California to get away from it all for awhile. I left Bella w/Grandma so that we could all fit in one vehicle and so that I could keep my sanity intact by reducing the amount of poo I had to handle on an hourly basis :)

Those Babies

Tyson in one of Bella's hats I dug out of my bag. I assured Jay he only wore it for about 5 minutes. I mean PUH-LEEZE! My baby is totally comfortable with his sexuality.

Audra getting really tired and giggly at the lake (Doesn't that kind of look like ME in the background?)

Payton's injury when he fell at the tidepools (from the screams you would have thought a shark had bitten him on the leg)

Katie Cardons face the whole time she had to navigate the tide pools (and when she couldn't wear THE SKIRT)

We had a great time but left a day early due to the fact that the kids just seemed to be at each others throats constantly and no one was getting much sleep.

So we left on Monday at around 6:45pm w/the plan of driving all night so that kids would sleep for the trip. Kimmies husband did not feel good about us driving that late without a cellphone so Kimmie asked her mom to borrow hers and told her she'd mail it back the next day.

Well, good thing she did because about one hour into our trip we blew a tire in the fast lane.

We were blessed to have been able to safely get to the median and call a roadside service. While waiting, a CHP officer stopped to let us know that his partner was going to stop 4 lanes of traffic so that we could get across to the other side of the Interstate. At this point we started getting all giggly and just thought we were soooo funny. Officer Munoz was so nice, here's a picture I tried to sneak of him and Kimmie while he was on the phone.

A picture of his partner stopping traffic using the "weave". We felt like we were famous or something and must of looked like complete dorks when I held the camera out the window to get a memory photo.

Kimmie forgetting to put the car in park and hitting a pole in front of the "air station". This was RIGHT after our tire incident. I drove the rest of the way home....

After a bit of whining and complaining, of starvation and growing pains, everyone finally fell asleep...

Special thanks to our new Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Blake, and Aunt Dori. Your hospitality to the Huhtala's will surely get you straight into heaven :)

Field Trip to the Zoo

I chaperoned a field trip to the Sacramento Zoo with Katrina's class. It was cute to see her and all her little girlfriends. First graders are so cute. They're not creeped out by boys yet so they are for the most part all nice to each other.

Here's a picture of her and all her little friends (the boys were outnumbered so none of them were brave enough to jump in the picture with all those gigglers)

When I got to the school the kids were out on the playground and Katrina ran up and gave me a hug. One of her little friends ran up and said, "Katrina, is that your sister?" I said, "No, I'm her mom!" Then I could have kissed her when she said, "Your her mom?? You look really young!"

I'm not sure if this was a compliment or not. I think I'm supposed to want to look like Katrina's sister when she's a teenager...Oh well, I'll take what I can get.

Here's a pic of my little group I chaperoned.

There's nothing easier than chaperoning a small group of 6 year old girls. I was grateful to not have one of the "boy" groups :)
