My Bragging Rights
Ok, this post will sound like I'm bragging but if any of you know the pain I have gone through since Payton has started school you'll completely agree that I have every right.
Today I went to a little private awards ceremony for Paytons class. His teacher is soooooo awesome, and cute, and has just been so good to him and his "short attention span". So she's giving out awards and he gets one for "outstanding vocabulary and spelling skills" (he gets that from me) :) Then she starts giving awards to all the kids who can read over 100 words correctly in 1 minute. She's going down the list and one kid has 101, then 104, a bunch of kids are in the 120's. Then she says that the last award is a bit of a jump from the 120's (I mean I didn't want to be TOO proud but I totally knew it was him) but the number was huge!!! Are u ready for this??! 167 wpm!! I mean I knew he's always been a great reader but man alive that was incredible! (of course he gets this from me too).
He's always told me that he's the best reader in his class and we've talked about not saying things like that to the other kids. He calls it his "secret". So then he came up to me afterwards and showed me his certificate and said "See, I told you I was the best reader in the class."
Guess the secrets out :)
P.S. Katrina is also at the top of her class in reading. Geniuses I tell ya!!!

I beg your pardon but the reading abilities come from their grandma K!!
You know something Jo, I want to be just like you when I grow up! If it's one thing I miss in life - it's writing. You have an uncanny ability to write and I hope you never stop. Someday . . . maybe I can write again. I really envy your life - mainly because it brings back so many memories of me and the best time of my life - 9 children at home. How I miss those days. Keep up the good work. Mom
